Väylävirasto on päättänyt solmia 4-vuotisia puitesopimuksia Helsinki-Riihimäki kapasiteetin lisääminen, 2. vaiheen lisärahoitusosuuden rakennuttamiseen, valvontaan ja suunnitteluttamiseen liittyviin tehtäviin. Sopimusta on mahdollista jatkaa neljän optiovuoden verran vuosi kerrallaan. Lisärahoituksella toteutetaan uusi tavaraliikenteen raide, joka alkaa Hyvinkään liikennepaikalta Hangon radalta pääraiteiden länsipuolelta ylittäen Monnissa muut raiteet ja päättyy Riihimäen tavararatapihalle.
