Das Werk Bremen der DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung GmbH ist das Kompetenzzentrum für die Instandhaltung von Großdieselmotoren und Antriebssystemen. Im Rahmen der Motoreninstandhaltung werden jährlich zahlreiche Kurbelgehäuse verschiedener Motorbaureihen mechanisch bearbeitet, vermessen und instandgesetzt. Hierzu zählen insbesondere Motoren der Hersteller MTU, Caterpillar und Cummins. Die Bearbeitung der Kurbelgehäuse erfolgt derzeit auf mehreren Bestandsmaschinen.
