"Søkelys på arbeidslivet" is funded by the Ministry of Labour and Social Inclusion, and the Institute for Social Research (ISF) has served as the journal’s editorial body since its inception in 1987. Since 2007, "Søkelys på arbeidslivet" has been a peer-reviewed journal (Level 1). In the 2022 tender process, ISF was awarded the contract to publish a journal equivalent to "Søkelys på arbeidslivet" for a period extending up to the end of 2026.
